Jinnah Christian Colony is a village a few miles out of Sorkot in the Punjab region of Pakistan. There are about 2,000 residents with about 700 children. There is no school in that village and to send a child to Sorkot cost $2 a month in tuition and about $16 in transportation per month. Pastor Rauf Swan and I are hopeful that a school could be started in the village.

This is a Christian village in a country that is 98% Muslim. I think it is a shame that they are not able to show that God cares about these children and wants the best for them. The school would be set on Christian principles but not be a “Christian” school. I think it is a shame that the nearest school to them is a Government school that is teaching some radical and misinformation and is very under supplied.

It could start soon using the church and covered courtyard for classes. He hopes to build an addition to the church that would cost about $20,000. The village parents would be helping in this project just as they helped to put in a well to provide clean water to each household. US funds were about $3,000 and the village put up about $9,000 in money and labor for the well.

Schooling for a child in US dollars would be approximately: Annual fees $24, Summer Uniform $15, Winter Uniform $20, Annual books and stationary $20. Teacher Salary would be about $80 per month and the construction would be about $20,000.
